Investor Temporary Residence Permit applicants must prove sufficient financial means to cover living expenses in Latvia:

• Investment in Real Estate - 2220 EUR

• Investment in Business - 740 EUR

• Investment in Government Bonds - 740 EUR

Evidence can include a recent bank statement or employment contract showing relevant income.

• The payment for acquisition of the property is made by bank transfer - non-cash payment.

• You need to check there is no tax debts of the property.

• You have a certified expert conclusion about the property's market value.

No, knowledge of Latvian is not required to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit. However, Latvian language proficiency is required later if you apply for Permanent Residence or Citizenship.

No, you don’t have to be in Latvia to apply. Most first-time applications are submitted at a Latvian embassy or consulate abroad. However, if you already have legal grounds to stay in Latvia e.g. with a valid visa, then you may apply directly at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs inside Latvia.

You must submit an original police clearance certificate issued within the last 6 months by the competent authority of your country of citizenship (and any country where you lived more than 12 months in the past 10 years).

Yes. Children of Temporary Residence Permit holders have the right to attend state and municipal schools free of charge, including pre-school education, subject to local availability.

You may qualify for maternity or parental allowance if you or your spouse are legally employed in Latvia and pay social insurance contributions. Without employment and contributions, such allowances are not available.
